North America's striped skunk is depicted as a 3D cross stitch animal. I have a huge fondness for these creatures. Yes, I know they can stink, but I promise this little guy won't. And just look at that face and the beautiful black and white coat. They really are remarkable creatures and have proven to be highly adaptable and successful in surviving our encroachment into their habitat. Just don't let your dog get too close! (Mine have more than once!)

I like accuracy in plush animals and have made the markings and eyes like that of real skunks. The coat and tail are made to look fluffy by using a turkey work stitch. Why use cross stitch?  Because cross stitch allows me to make tiny details that would be difficult to do by another method. Who says that cross stitch is only good for flat things? Now you can stitch a doll using cross stitch for the details.

The animal is stitched as 18 pieces which are then cut out and sewn together. Full assembly directions and turkey work instructions with illustrations are included.
